Digital Group

The Digital Group will meet on 'third Mondays' (when there are no 'regular' Club meetings). The first meeting of the Group took place on 21 January, and further meetings will be announced at regular Club meetings and here. Meetings will take place between 8pm and 10pm in the Mencap Hall - the same as our usual meetings. As it is not a regular programme meeting, those coming along will be asked to contribute £1 towards the rental of the hall. There will be a coffee break of about 20-30 minutes.

Our aims for these meetings are

  1. a forum for the exchange of information, tips, experiences
  2. an opportunity to seek guidance and advice

In an ever expanding digital world it may be difficult for individuals to keep up with new developments, whether about techniques or supplies and equipment. So it is to our mutual benefit to exchange such information as we have, and the Digital Group gives a chance to concentrate on the subject, over and above our usual meetings which have a variety of topics.

At the Digital Group evenings, we can show new acquisitions (at least the portable ones) and to discuss their merits, be they equipment, software, books etc. We can also relate experiences, good or bad, in relation to services. Digital photography is expensive and we should not hesitate to seek advice before we spend our money.

In digital photography we are all learning and will continue to do so from here to eternity! So we should not be afraid to ask 'stupid' questions ... they will probably not be stupid, and a fellow member may have the answer already. In some cases a demonstration may be called for. The laptop will be switched on so that we can deal with technical issues.

These meetings will be as informal as possible, although we will have some structure. Meetings may have a focus on one or more topics, which may be suggested by popular demand. If you wish to raise technical questions involving detailed demonstrations you should advise us some time before the meeting so that someone may have an opportunity to prepare the response.
