2017 Annual Exhibition
Our Annual Exhibition was once again held in the Sevenoaks Kaleidoscope Gallery (aka the Library Gallery), running over the last two weeks of June, and forming part of the Sevenoaks Summer Festival.
As always there's a large amount of work that goes on in the background to get the show going smoothly and as usual a number of members pitched in and took on various tasks. Thanks to all who helped out.
Private View evening
A number of invited guests enjoyed the Private View with our members and the judge, Gerald Kitiyakara LRPS, President of Carshalton Camera Club. Guests included Cllr Maxine Chakowa, Sevenoaks Town Mayor, who officially opened the show; Ros Barker of Sevenoaks Visual Arts Forum; Richard Parry, a Sevenoaks Town Councillor who has kindly supported the Club in the past; Alan Pett, Chairman Sevenoaks District Arts Council; and Diana Edwardes. Thanks to Club member Gyula Magyar for permission to use his pictures of the evening.
Results
Our judge this year was Gerald Kitiyakara (see above). He gave very careful consideration of all prints and PDIs at home to come to his conclusions about the photos that would receive awards or Highly Commended certificates. When he spoke at the Private View, though, he stressed that all of the entries deserved recognition and that he had found it really hard to make a selection of the best. Thanks, Gerald, for all your work to help us.
A list of the Award-winning and Highly Commended photos can be found on the season's competition results page.
Visitors' choice result
Visitors to the Exhibition were encouraged to vote for their favourite print. In first place this year was Claire Thomas' “Sumatran Tiger”, closely followed by Rebecca Norton's “Running Boy”. (Click for larger photos.)
Projected Digital Image entries
PDI entries are only on display on the Saturdays of the exhibition, so to allow more time to view them, we have put the entries here as a slideshow. Click below to launch the show, which will last just over 6 minutes if you let it play automatically. You can also use the (fairly standard) controls to the top right of the photos to pause or restart the show, or the left and right arrows there or on the photos to move them back or forwards.
