2018 Annual Exhibition

The Club's Annual Exhibition was held in the Sevenoaks Kaleidoscope Gallery over the last two and a half weeks of June, again linking with the Sevenoaks Summer Festival.

Many thanks to the countless guests who visited the gallery to see our exhibition. It's great for our members to be able to share their photographs with a wider audience. Inevitably most were from the local area and Kent/Surrey, but our visitors' book also revealed guests from Dublin and from Australia!

And many thanks, of course, to all the Club members who contributed theor photos and helped out in some way. Tthere were a lot of us, as there is a great amount of work in the background to set up and promote the show.

Results

Our judge, Rosemary Wilman, attended the private view and outlined how she went about the judging and what she saw in the pictures she had selected as winners. As ever with the experienced volunteer judges who assess our entries, she gave her time freely and clearly took great care over her selections.

As well as Premier and Imagination Awards, she selected a dozen pictures in both print and projected digital image sections to receive Highly Commended certificates. We were delighted that she used this recognition to celebrate a variety of subjects and styles.

The foot of our season's competition results webpage has the list of Award-winners and Highly Commended photos.

Visitors' choice result

Visitors to the Exhibition were again encouraged to vote for their favourite print. In first place came “Red Squirrel” by Claire Thomas, followed by Patricia Jones with “Into the Wide Blue Yonder” who tied for second place with Paul Simons' photo “Melting Pot”. (Click for larger photos.) As we usually find, about 75% of prints received at least one vote from the visitors, showing that personal choice is so much part of what we like in photographs.

Projected Digital Image entries

PDI entries are only on display on the Saturdays of the exhibition, so to allow more time to view them, the entries are here as a slideshow. Click below to launch the show, which will last about seven minutes if you let it play automatically. You can also use the (fairly standard) controls to the top right of the photos.
